Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources maintains the largest conservation and environmental stewardship education program in the commonwealth. Through a variety of educational and informational programs from one corner of the commonwealth to the other, DCNR staff annually educate hundreds of thousands of students, teachers and visitors to Pennsylvania's state parks and forests.

Conservation and environmental stewardship extends beyond our public lands. It starts with every citizen of any age. Conservation and Environmental stewardship extends to cities and towns because plants and animals seek out space to grow and live in areas right in the middle of houses, stores, offices and other busy places just as they seek habitat in our beautiful wild areas.

Through these pages, you will find information and activities that will make you aware of the importance of providing clean air, clean water and adequate habitat for the diversity of plant and animal life. This diversity provides the balance of life on Earth.
