Counties with Burn Bans Last updated Tuesday, February 09, 2010 Burn bans are a tool used to protect life (residents, visitors, volunteer emergency responders, etc.), property (residences, businesses, etc.), and our natural resources from unintended wildfire ignitions. Ninety-eight percent (98%) of the wildfires in Pennsylvania are a direct result of people. These unintended wildfires place emergency responders directly in harms way. They also tie up emergency responders and apparatus that serve the community in the event of a traffic accident, structure fire, school emergency, etc.
Counties colored red on the map above, as well as on the list below have countywide burn bans in place. Local municipalities, townships, boroughs, and counties may have additional burn ban information, so be sure to check if burning is permitted.
