Scouting Awards

Current Scouting Awards

The Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, Division of Forest Fire Protection offers the "Forest Conservation Award" program. This program recognizes both Boy and Girl Scouts in Pennsylvania for their outstanding efforts in completing merit badges, patches, and projects associated with our natural resources.

Upon completion of the outlined requirements, scouts receive an 8½" x 11" parchment certificate and a multicolored shoulder patch.

Future Scouting Awards

The possibility of establishing another award for both Boy and Girl scouts is being explored in Pennsylvania. The award would be structured around state and nationally recognized FIREWISE programs. These programs outline strategies that communities and homeowners can implement around their properties, to be better prepared, in the event of a wildfire. These strategies can be implemented on an individual or community basis to aid in the protection of lives, property, and our natural resources.
