Pennsylvania Rare Plant Forum
The Rare Plant Forum is a function of the Vascular Plant Technical Committee of the Pennsylvania Biological Survey. Since 1979, this forum has served in an advisory role to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for issues related to the conservation of the native flora of Pennsylvania.
The Forum discusses proposed changes to the list of Plants of Special Concern in Pennsylvania (POSCIP) and offers related presentations by contributing botanists. This is an excellent opportunity to connect and work with amateurs and professionals, who share an interest in the flora of Pennsylvania. Anyone interested in the conservation of Pennsylvania’s native flora is encouraged to attend these meetings.
One of the main functions of the Pennsylvania Rare Plant Forum is to consider proposals for adjusting the conservation status of species. To propose a change to the listed status of a plant species of special concern begin by downloading the re-classification proposal form. Definitions of the status catagories, and guidelines for determining native species and inclusion of hybrids are provided to assist your submissions.
Review and download the minutes and status proposals from past meetings.
