A Guide for Municipal Tree Commissions
Edited by William F. Elmendorf, and Henry D. Gerhold, 1997
A 48-page booklet which offers advice and practical information contributed
by eight authors who have extensive experience with municipal officials
and community volunteers. Besides the conventional community forestry
topics of inventories, ordinances, tree commissions, and arboricultural
practices, there are chapters on starting a community tree plan, securing
financial support, fostering community involvement, working with utilities,
and caring for community ecosystems. The guide has a Pennsylvania
flavor, but is regarded as useful throughout the United States.

Sylvan Communities & Urban Forestry News
This is the magazine and newsletter of Pennsylvania Community Forests.
These publications provide articles on a wide variety of community
forestry topics from caring for and managing trees, to open
space and land use issues. Each is provided twice a year to members
of PCF. PCF membership is $10 for youths or seniors, $25 for individuals,
$50 for municipalities (3 individual memberships), $100 for small
business (5 memberships), and $500 for corporations. For PCF membership
