Stony Valley Rail Trail

Stony Valley Rail Trail is 19 miles long and runs through State Game Lands 211 from the Ellendale trail head to Gold Mine Rd. The trail passes through some of the wildest mountain areas and largest roadless areas in eastern Pennsylvania. The trail is nearly flat and leads you into a mature oak, hickory and tulip poplar forest with animal life including deer, bobcats, foxes and coyotes.

Please note: Hikers not engaged in hunting, trapping or fishing must wear a minimum of 250 square inches of fluorescent orange when using this trail Nov. 15 through Dec. 15, except on Sundays.

Directions

Take Rt. 322 north to Dauphin/Stony Creek exit (Rt. 255). Take exit and go 0.3 mile. Turn right at Stony Creek sign onto Schuylkill St. Go 0.1 mile and turn right onto Erie St. Go 0.1 mile and turn left onto Stony Creek Rd. Go 4.8 miles to Ellendale Rd. (dirt). Go 1.9 miles to the trail head. For more information, call (717) 787-9612.
