Bureau of State Parks Announces Photography Contest Winners
HARRISBURG (May 10, 1996) -- The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) announced today the winners in its annual State Parks photography contest.
Grand Prize Winner Irene Derise of East Meadows, New York, won one week of free cabin use in a Pennsylvania state park for her black and white photo "Frolicking at the Falls," which was taken at Promised Land State Park, Pike County.
The Bureau of State Parks is currently accepting entries for its 1996 contest.
Amateur photographers may submit 8"x10" or 8"x12" black and white or colored prints in the following categories: wildlife, plants, park activities, landscape, historical and park employee/volunteer.
The grand prize is one week of cabin use in a Pennsylvania state park. Category winners receive one week of free camping or one day's free use of a picnic pavilion.
The deadline for submitting entries to any state park office is Oct. 31, 1996. Entries will be judged for originality, composition and execution. The decisions of the judges are final. The winning entries will be displayed in state park exhibits and visitor centers.
All entries must be the original work of the contestant and must have been taken in a Pennsylvania State Park. Entry forms and contest details are available at any state park office and at the Bureau of State Parks, P.O. Box 8551, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8551, or by calling 1-800-63-PARKS.
