Cross-country Skiing

A family bundled in winter clothes cross-country skis in deep, white snow at Laurel Ridge State Park.

There is a certain peace and tranquillity in the parks during the winter, and the view can be breathtaking. Cross-country skiing is a great way to enjoy a state park in winter, especially when there is lots of snow on the ground. In addition to the obvious fitness benefits, cross-country skiing is an excellent way to observe nature.

Cross-country skiing trails are located on hiking trails, equestrian trails, service roads, fields, frozen lakes, old railroad grades and lake shorelines.

Find out where there is snow with our weekly winter activities report, updated from first snow until spring thaw.
