The Natural Year

This map divides the state of Pennsylvania into three regions--north, central, south--for changes in climate through the natural year. From the, cold, quiet times of January to the explosion of life in July, there are always animals and plants flowering, breeding,  migrating or doing something. As with all natural events, the timing can vary from year to year, usually dependant on the weather. This listing is a general guidleline. Contact the park for specific information before making a trip.

Climate, geography, and geology create temperature changes across Pennsylvania. The map  is a rough guage that shows the time difference in certain natural events, like flower blooming, migrations and autumn foliage changes.
