Suggested citation: Berg, T. M., Edmunds, W. E., Geyer, A. R., and others, compilers, 1980, Geologic map of Pennsylvania (2nd ed.): Pennsylvania Geological Survey, 4th ser., Map 1, scale 1:250,000, 3 sheets [web release].

Description: Map 1 is a regional (1:250,000-scale) map of the bedrock geology of Pennsylvania. It consists of three sheets: one showing geology in the western half of the state, one showing geology in the eastern half of the state, and one showing four northwest-southeast-trending geologic cross sections from across the state.

In addition to the images of the printed publication available here, the bureau has used GIS technology to prepare a digital version of the map, which includes limited updates and changes. Information and links to the state geologic map GIS datasets can be found on the digital bedrock geology page of our web site.

Location: Entire state

File formats: PDF.* See “File Formats for Online Publications” for information on how to obtain free software for reading files in this format.

Constraints: Map 1 is a regional map that shows broad trends and patterns. It is not intended for detailed analysis or site-specific applications. Before downloading the files, see distribution liability and access constraints.
