Many Pennsylvania Geological Survey publications can be viewed or downloaded from our website. These include reports that were published online, as well as reports that were published as printed material or on CD–ROMs and later prepared for release on the web. Links to online reports are found in the lists for each publication series. In addition to many technical reports, our popular educational series, park guides, poster maps, and page-size maps are available to view or download.
Almost all Pennsylvania Geological Survey formal printed and CD-ROM publications can be borrowed from the Survey library or possibly from one of our repository libraries. If you are not near one of these libraries, then you can go to a local library and ask the librarian to arrange for an interlibrary loan.
Open-file reports and reports that were initially published online are not available in libraries. But these reports can be downloaded or viewed on our website (see above).
Special Publication 1, The Geology of Pennsylvania, may be purchased online at ShopPAHeritage.com. Once on the site, select “Commonwealth of Pennsylvania publications” near the top of the page and then select “Conservation and Natural Resources."
Orders are processed within five to seven business days. A shipping charge is added to each order, and a charge of 6 percent state sales tax is added to orders mailed to a Pennsylvania address. If you are unable to order online, telephone the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission at 717–772–2839 or 1–800–747–7790 for assistance and mail-order information. An order being sent outside the United States must be purchased by telephone or mail.
Free educational publications (educational series, park guides, and selected maps) that are still in print may be ordered from Jody Rebuck, of the Pennsylvania Geological Survey. When emailing your request, please include the publication series and number abbreviation, the quantity you desire, the ship-to address, and a telephone number where you can be reached if necessary. If requesting classroom quantities, please provide the school affiliation.
Free educational publications can also be viewed online (see above). If you have any questions concerning the ordering of free educational publications, please call Jody Rebuck at 717–702–2017.
