Information Circulars

Description: Below is a list of information circulars published by the Pennsylvania Geological Survey. These circulars are predominantly brief, technical reports that focus on the annual status of the state’s nonfuel mineral industries from 1951 through 1987. A few booklets deal with stratigraphy and petrology. More detailed bibliographic information (including the types of maps and map scales found in a few of these reports) is given in the Survey’s list of publications, Pennsylvania Geological Publications.

Related Publications: In addition to the information circulars, the bureau has excerpts from the U.S. Bureau of Mines Minerals Yearbook that report the status of nonfuel mineral industries for the state from 1988 through 1991. These booklets are titled “Pennsylvania” and can be obtained by following the ordering instructions for free publications. Please indicate the year of interest when ordering.

Availability: All titles in the list below are active links, and clicking a title will initiate the download of a ZIP file that was prepared for the report. In addition, several free circulars are still in print and may be ordered from the Bureau of Topographic and Geologic Survey. The titles of in-print circulars are followed by a link to ordering instructions, where you should follow the instructions for free publications.

The published printed copies of information circulars can be borrowed from the Survey library or possibly from one of our repository libraries. If you are not near one of these libraries, you can go to a local library and ask the librarian to arrange an interlibrary loan.
