Pebbly Layers

Some of the layers of the Homewood Sandstone contain larger grains (granules - above knife) than other layers (sand - below knife). The coarser layers were deposited in faster flowing water. The faster flow was able to keep the sand in suspension, while moving the granules along the stream bottom.

This photo was taken along the exit road from McConnells Mill.
