Muddy Creek Falls

Muddy Creek Falls is near the mouth of Muddy Creek, which drains modern Lake Arthur. Muddy Creek is the final glacial lake drainage path which completely drained glacial Lake Watts.

Since Lake Watts drained, the Slippery Rock Gorge has been further eroded by later drainage from glacial Lake Edmund past Kennedy Mill, leaving Muddy Creek in a "hanging valley." However, the flow of Muddy Creek has been sufficient to erode a large amount of Homewood Sandstone; more than any other stream tributary to the Slippery Rock Gorge. It has eroded its own 60-foot deep gorge in the Homewood back about ½ mile from Slippery Rock Creek.

Muddy Creek Falls is on private property.
